Canadian horror film This Is Not a Test will arrive on Crave on Oct. 16, adding Adam MacDonald’s adaptation of Courtney Summers’ 2012 novel to the streamer’s October lineup.

Olivia Holt stars as Sloane, one of a small group of classmates sheltering inside their high school while a zombie outbreak overtakes their hometown. The principal cast also includes Froy Gutierrez, Luke Macfarlane, Corteon Moore, Chloe Avakian and Carson MacCormac.

MacDonald wrote and directed the film and produced it with Cybill Lui of Anova Pictures. Bell Media lists This Is Not a Test as a Canadian title in its October Crave schedule, while Toronto After Dark identified Canada as the film’s country when it programmed the Canadian premiere in 2025.

Summers’ novel was published by St. Martin’s Griffin in 2012. In the book, six students take shelter at Cortege High during a zombie apocalypse, with Sloane already struggling with whether she wants to survive before the outbreak begins. The film’s official synopsis keeps the central setup of Sloane and a group of classmates sheltering at their high school while the world outside collapses, although the available promotional material does not establish how closely the finished film follows every part of the novel.

This Is Not a Test had its Canadian premiere at Toronto After Dark in October 2025, and Landmark Cinemas listed it in theatres beginning Feb. 27, 2026. AMC Global Media later listed the film for a May 22 premiere on Shudder; the release material reviewed for this story does not establish whether that streaming date applied in Canada. Bell Media’s October schedule lists the film on Crave in Canada on Friday, Oct. 16.
