Canadian feature A Tribe Called Love begins streaming on Crave on Oct 8, 2026, bringing Mohamed Ahmed’s Toronto-set romance to the service after its festival and theatrical runs.
Written and directed by Ahmed, the film follows teenagers Farah and Halima, who fall in love in Toronto’s Somali community despite warnings to stay apart because they come from different tribes. Reelworld’s festival material notes that the movie uses a fictional tribe system in its treatment of that conflict. Farah’s family later relocates to Vancouver, separating the pair until they reconnect in their twenties in Toronto. Dalmar Abuzeid and Feaven Abera play adult Farah and Halima, with Ahmed Ibrahim and Muntaha Mohamed as their younger counterparts.
Andy Marshall produced the feature for Mahaica Point Media. Telefilm Canada lists A Tribe Called Love as an Ontario drama that received production funding, with Mahaica Point Media Inc. as the production company and Mongrel Media as distributor. Mahaica Point Media also credits Ontario Creates as a supporter. Mongrel released the film theatrically in Canada on Apr 17, 2026.
Before that theatrical run, A Tribe Called Love had its world premiere at the 2025 Reelworld Film Festival on Oct 18, 2025. Reelworld describes it as Ahmed’s debut feature and says the filmmaker grew up in Ottawa, studied filmmaking at Vancouver Film School and later worked in Toronto’s independent film scene. Bell Media’s October schedule lists A Tribe Called Love among the Canadian titles joining Crave on Oct 8, 2026.
