Jared Keeso’s new Crave comedy I Kill the Bear arrives November 6 with a Canadian ensemble led by Keeso, Georges St-Pierre, Sarah-Maude Beauchesne and Jonathan Torrens. All four play members of the Thibaults, a fourth-generation Franco-Ontarian family whose business involves handling bears for film productions. The six-part series also features Kristin Kreuk, Adrian Holmes, Scott Thompson and Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger, alongside performers familiar from Letterkenny and Shoresy.
The Thibaults have worked with film productions for roughly a century and have decided that their current movie will be their last. According to Bell Media, the family has spent much of its life isolated in the bush and now finds itself dealing with people and practices from a Hollywood world it does not fully understand. The broadcaster has announced the principal family actors and wider ensemble, but its October 6 casting release does not establish the individual Thibault characters’ exact relationships.
Who plays the Thibault family in I Kill the Bear?
An October 17 cast breakdown in Men’s Journal, consistent with IMDb’s pre-release credits, identifies the four characters as Gabby Thibault (Jared Keeso), Olivier Thibault (Georges St-Pierre), Andrée Thibault (Sarah-Maude Beauchesne) and Cedric Thibault (Jonathan Torrens). These character-name assignments come from published cast listings; Bell Media’s own casting announcement confirms the four performers as members of the family without matching their individual names to roles. No detailed family tree has been announced ahead of the premiere.
Jared Keeso — reported as Gabby Thibault
Keeso created and wrote I Kill the Bear and serves as an executive producer and star. Bell credits the story to Keeso and producer Trevor Risk, with New Metric Media again producing a series developed by the Canadian writer and actor. Keeso is best known for playing Wayne in Letterkenny, the rural Ontario comedy he created, and the title character of its hockey spinoff Shoresy. Both earlier series connect him to several people working on I Kill the Bear, although the Thibaults are introduced with their own premise.
Sarah-Maude Beauchesne — reported as Andrée Thibault
Beauchesne is a Québec novelist, screenwriter and performer whose work includes the television series Fourchette, which she wrote and starred in, and Bellefleur. Her books include the novel Cœur de slush and Les Fourchettes, a 2020 collection of writing from her website; the latter is distinct from the television production Fourchette. Her casting adds a Québec French-language television and literary background to a comedy centred on a fictional Franco-Ontarian family.
Georges St-Pierre — reported as Olivier Thibault
St-Pierre, the Québec mixed martial arts champion, joins the family cast after building a screen résumé alongside his athletic career. He appeared as Georges Batroc in the Marvel film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Bell Media specifically cited that film when announcing his participation in I Kill the Bear. The broadcaster’s series description identifies the family’s occupation collectively, leaving each member’s particular work on the final movie to be introduced by the show.
Jonathan Torrens — reported as Cedric Thibault
Torrens has worked in Canadian television across comedy, hosting and acting, from the youth-oriented programmes Street Cents and Jonovision to his portrayal of rapper J-Roc in Trailer Park Boys. He has also worked in the Letterkenny and Shoresy orbit. In I Kill the Bear, Bell names him as the fourth performer playing a Thibault family member; the role name Cedric comes from the published cast listings rather than the broadcaster’s announcement.
Who are the other confirmed I Kill the Bear actors?
Bell’s ensemble announcement also names Kristin Kreuk, Adrian Holmes, Scott Thompson, Chad Kroeger, Dylan Playfair, Eliana Jones, Frederick Roy and Megha Sandhu. Pre-release listings identify their characters as Kathy, Bob, Edward, the Son of Grizzly Adams, Timothy, Rose, Alex and Ricky, respectively. The character names and the official casting are distinct pieces of information: Bell has confirmed the performers without publishing descriptions of most of these roles.
Kristin Kreuk — reported as Kathy
Vancouver-raised actor Kristin Kreuk became widely known as Lana Lang in Smallville and subsequently led the Canadian legal drama Burden of Truth. She played lawyer Joanna, initially known as Joanna Hanley and later as Joanna Chang, and was also an executive producer on the series. Her appearance in I Kill the Bear adds another Canadian television lead to the cast, although the series’ published description offers no further information about Kathy.
Adrian Holmes — reported as Bob
Adrian Holmes’ credits include the Canadian adaptation of 19-2 and the American drama Bel-Air. Bell highlighted both programmes in its I Kill the Bear casting announcement. His experience in Canadian and American television brings another familiar face to the ensemble; the published character credit identifies him as Bob without supplying a biography or a confirmed relationship to the Thibaults.
Scott Thompson — reported as Edward
Scott Thompson is a member of The Kids in the Hall, the influential Canadian sketch-comedy troupe whose work continued through a later television revival. Bell includes him in the cast of I Kill the Bear, and the pre-release character listings identify Edward as his role. His involvement places a veteran of Canadian sketch comedy alongside actors from Keeso’s more recent television productions.
Chad Kroeger — reportedly the Son of Grizzly Adams
Kroeger, best known as the frontman of Canadian rock band Nickelback, is an announced member of the ensemble. Men’s Journal and IMDb give his character the unusual credit “the Son of Grizzly Adams.” Bell’s public casting announcement confirms Kroeger’s involvement but does not specify that character name, his connection to the Thibaults or how extensively he appears. There is no basis in the released information to describe him as playing himself.
Dylan Playfair, Eliana Jones, Frederick Roy and Megha Sandhu
Dylan Playfair previously appeared in Letterkenny, while Eliana Jones and Frederick Roy have acted in Shoresy. Their inclusion in I Kill the Bear brings performers from Keeso-associated productions into another New Metric Media comedy. Bell also names Megha Sandhu, whose previous credits include Painkiller. The reported character listings assign Timothy to Playfair, Rose to Jones, Alex to Roy and Ricky to Sandhu, without establishing that any of their earlier television characters are returning.
Which Canadian guest stars are in I Kill the Bear?
Bell Media has announced an extensive guest cast: Andrew Antsanen, Jann Arden, Brent Butt, Michala Brasseur, Jesse Camacho, Kim Coates, Art D’Ecco, Tricia Helfer, Emma Hunter, Kim Cloutier, Ryan McDonell, Ben Mulroney, Michelle Mylett, Matt Paradis, Jay Onrait, Maxim Roy, Melanie Scrofano, Rachel Sellan, Hannah Simone and George Stroumboulopoulos. Its episode-one listing also names Jeff McEnery among the guests scheduled to appear in the premiere.
The guest roster includes Canadian actors, comedians, musicians and broadcasters from a variety of fields. Arden is a singer-songwriter with television credits, Butt created Corner Gas, and Coates and Helfer have worked in Canadian and international screen productions. Michelle Mylett and Melanie Scrofano are familiar to Letterkenny viewers, while other guests have Shoresy connections. Bell has not assigned characters or specific episodes to the full announced guest list, so their presence should not be taken as a promise of recurring roles.
Is I Kill the Bear connected to Letterkenny or Shoresy?
I Kill the Bear shares a creator, production company and some performers with Letterkenny and Shoresy. Bell describes the new comedy through the Thibaults and their work on film sets, rather than as a continuation of either earlier series. A previous cast credit is therefore useful background about an actor without establishing that an existing character or storyline carries into this production.
Where was I Kill the Bear made?
When Bell announced the cast in October 2025, it said production was underway in Sudbury, Ontario. The series is produced by New Metric Media in association with Play Fun Games and in partnership with Crave, with participation from the Rogers Fund and Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. Dan and Sean Skene are directors and executive producers, and New Metric Media is handling international distribution. The production announcement identifies Sudbury as an active filming location at that time; it does not establish that every scene was shot there.
When does I Kill the Bear premiere on Crave?
The six half-hour episodes begin streaming in Canada on Friday, November 6, 2026. Crave has announced two episodes a week, placing the subsequent pairs on November 13 and November 20. Bell’s premiere announcement does not specify a Canadian release hour, and its international distribution arrangement should not be read as confirmation of a particular overseas streaming service.
