Heartland returns for Season 20 on Sunday, Oct. 4, with the premiere available to Canadian viewers on CBC Gem at 7 p.m. ET and on CBC television in its Sunday 7 p.m. local-time slot.

CBC has confirmed 10 hour-long episodes for Season 20. The network’s fall premiere announcement says subsequent episodes will arrive weekly, putting the season on track to run into early December if that cadence continues without interruption.

When can Canadians watch Heartland Season 20?

The Season 20 premiere arrives Oct. 4. The official Heartland Season 20 trailer lists the Canadian premiere on CBC Gem at 7 p.m. ET, while CBC’s current television schedule keeps Heartland in the Sunday 7 p.m. slot.

That means viewers using CBC Gem can stream the premiere beginning at 7 p.m. ET. The CBC television broadcast airs at 7 p.m. local time.

What is the Heartland Season 20 release schedule?

CBC has confirmed a 10-episode season and a weekly rollout. If there are no breaks in that schedule, the episodes would fall on Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25; Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29; and Dec. 6.

CBC has confirmed the weekly cadence but has not announced a complete episode-by-episode title list in the official material reviewed for this story. The dates after Oct. 4 are therefore the expected schedule if the weekly rollout continues without interruption.

Who is returning for Heartland Season 20?

CBC’s current Season 20 cast listing includes Amber Marshall, Michelle Morgan, Shaun Johnston, Jessica Steen, Alisha Newton, Chris Potter, Kerry James and Nathaniel Arcand.

The season continues with many of the characters already at the centre of the series, while its official trailer introduces several new pressures. Amy is considering her future with Nathan as a new rival arrives in Hudson with considerable horse skills and an online following. Lou is balancing a new business venture with a personal milestone, Katie is becoming more independent, and Jack’s storyline continues to involve Dex and the rodeo.

What is new about Season 20?

The official Season 20 trailer puts Amy’s work with horses and her relationship with Nathan near the centre of the new episodes, while the arrival of another horse trainer creates a fresh professional challenge. The trailer also points to changes elsewhere in the family, particularly for Lou, Katie and Jack.

Season 20 is again a Canadian production from Dynamo Films and SEVEN24 Films. ACTRA Alberta listed production from May 12 through Sept. 4 in High River and surrounding areas, keeping the series’ current production firmly rooted in Alberta.

For Canadian viewers, Season 20 follows a weekly release schedule. The premiere arrives Oct. 4 on CBC Gem at 7 p.m. ET and on CBC television at 7 p.m. local time; barring a scheduling change, the 10-episode season runs into Dec. 6.
