Sponsored Content Guidelines
SCENE 49 accepts a limited number of sponsored articles from businesses, organizations and agencies whose products, services or activities are relevant to Canadian entertainment and culture.
All sponsored content is subject to editorial approval and must meet SCENE 49's standards for accuracy, quality and relevance.
Sponsored Content Options
SCENE 49 Original Sponsored Feature — $250 CAD
An original article researched and written by SCENE 49, including an email interview, photographs and social media promotion as outlined in our advertising package.
Advertiser-Supplied Sponsored Article — $250 CAD
An article supplied by an advertiser or agency for editorial review, reasonable copyediting and publication on SCENE 49. Submissions requiring substantial rewriting or additional reporting may incur additional fees, agreed upon in advance.
Social media promotion is not included with advertiser-supplied articles.
Content Requirements
All sponsored articles must have a meaningful connection to Canadian entertainment, arts or culture. We welcome proposals involving film, television, music, publishing, theatre, performing arts, festivals and related creative industries.
International advertisers are welcome, provided their proposed content is relevant to our Canadian readership.
Submitted articles must be original, accurate, legally publishable and suitable for SCENE 49's audience. Claims and quotations must be verifiable, and advertisers must hold the necessary rights to any supplied photographs or other materials.
SCENE 49 does not accept misleading advertising, plagiarized content, unrelated promotional material or articles designed primarily to manipulate search-engine rankings.
We reserve the right to edit submissions, request revisions or decline material that does not meet our standards.
Advertising Disclosure and Links
All paid articles are clearly identified as Sponsored Content or Advertisement. The sponsoring business or organization must be disclosed.
Sponsored articles remain separate from SCENE 49's independent journalism. Advertising purchases do not influence our news coverage, reviews or editorial decisions.
Relevant links to legitimate websites may be included, subject to editorial approval. Paid links will use rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow" in accordance with Google's guidelines. We do not sell paid dofollow backlinks intended to pass search-engine ranking credit.
Publication does not guarantee search-engine rankings, indexing or traffic.
Social Media Promotion
Social media promotion is included with SCENE 49 Original Sponsored Features as outlined in that service's advertising package.
Advertiser-supplied articles are not guaranteed social media promotion. SCENE 49 may choose to share an article when it has current, newsworthy relevance and is consistent with the publication's existing coverage and social media content.
Any sponsored content shared on our social media channels will be appropriately identified as advertising.
Publication and Payment
SCENE 49 accepts a maximum of four sponsored articles per calendar month, across both sponsored-content options.
All submissions require editorial approval, and payment is due after acceptance and before publication. Publication dates are arranged according to availability and the time required for editorial review.
Approved articles are published on an ongoing basis, without a predetermined expiry date or recurring publication fee. SCENE 49 reserves the right to correct, update or remove content or links when necessary for legal, technical or editorial reasons. Permanent hosting is not guaranteed.
Submit a Proposal
Before submitting a completed article, please provide the advertiser's name and website, the proposed topic, its Canadian connection, any requested links and your preferred publication date.
Agencies must identify the business they represent.
